Dalmatian Rescue of Illinois is a charitable organization dedicated to finding loving homes for abandoned Dalmatians. We rescue Dalmatians in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and Indiana. We place Dalmatians in homes only in these states. Most of our Dalmatians come from shelters, where they have run out of time. Some come directly from owners who no longer want them. We evaluate each dog individually and take those who need us most and who are most likely to find new homes. We do not have a shelter. All the Dalmatians that we take in are kept in private homes. We place them with new families only after a careful screening process. Please note: we are not a state agency and are under no obligation to take ALL unwanted Dalmatians nor are we required to place Dalmatians with any individual who would like to adopt one. We receive no funds from the state of Illinois or any other state, organization, or club. We are funded solely by donations from individuals. Our adoption guidelines are established by our Board of Directors. Our space is limited and we are, unfortunately, unable to take every Dalmatian that needs help. We are incorporated in the state of Illinois and licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. We are registered as a charity with the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. We are a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations to us are tax deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. All work is done by volunteers. No one in the organization receives a salary. We are an independent organization, associated with no other Dalmatian rescue group or Dalmatian club. We are proud to be affiliated with the Dalmatian Assistance League, a national network of Dalmatian rescue groups. We have placed over 200 Dalmatians in new homes since 2001. |
